Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2: Is This Our First Look At Ego As A Planet?

Last night, Marvel Studios released a final trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

The new trailer offered fans their first look at Kurt Russell as Ego, the father of Peter "Star-Lord" Quill (Chris Pratt).

However, that final scene showed us Ego in his human form. In the Marvel Comics Universe, Ego is known as Ego the Living Planet because his true form is that of a sentient world. Fans may also have received their first look at Ego in that form in the new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer.

During a visit to the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, it was noted that Ego the Living Planet's landscape resembled the art on the covers of albums from the British rock band Yes. That's a description that seems to fit the setting of at least one or two shots from the latest trailer.

One scene shows Star-Lord and Gamora dancing on a balcony with a resplendent view behind them. A similar landscape can bee in a later scene as the Milano approaches some kind of palace.

There's been no confirmation that this planet is Ego, but considering the description given it seems like a solid inference. We won't know for sure until Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 currently has a 4.36 out of 5 ComicBook.com user anticipation rating, making it the second most anticipated upcoming comic book movie among ComicBook.com readers.
