Here's Where Yondu and Star-Lord Stand In Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2

Family is complicated when you are Peter Quill. When Marvel Studios brought the Guardians of the Galaxy to theaters, fans were not expecting the sucker-punch of feels they would get from the hero. After watching his mother die from cancer, Peter was kidnapped by space pirates and raised by Yondu, a blue Ravager with a fiery temper. Things smoothed over as an adult when Peter, or rather Star-Lord, built his own family with the Guardians. But, in one month, the hero will have his family reshuffled yet again.

In May, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will hit theaters, and the movie will make Star-Lord think hard about family. Fans know that the hero will be introduced to his biological father Ego during the flick. And, as details continue to be shared, audiences have learned that Yondu will come back into Star-Lord's life as a new member of the Guardians.

In a recent interview with USA Today, the stars of the the film opened up about how Star-Lord deals with Yondu in the sequel.

"In the first one, he was a guy chasing us. And in this movie, it becomes a little more than that," Chris Pratt explained.

Michael Rooker also chimed in, saying, "Yondu has made peace with this kid that he's raised and we're having a good time."

In the first film, fans watched as Star-Lord tricked Yondu when the latter tried to take Ronan's Infinity Stone from the Guardians. The Ravagers weren't too happy about the development as Yondu has apparently been mutinied by his crew. Left alone, the alien teams up with Rocket and Groot - and he really doesn't seem too fond of Ego as well.

Call it paternal instinct or territorial pride, it doesn't matter. Yondu is not a fan of Ego encroaching on Star-Lord after all these years of radio silence, and the human hero will have to deal with the warring parties moving forward.

Set to the backdrop of 'Awesome Mixtape #2,' Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin. New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, Everest), Chris Sullivan (The Knick, The Drop) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, The Thing).
