Fans Petition For Michael Rooker Cameo In Mary Poppins Returns

Some die hard Guardians of the Galaxy fans are truly taking one of the sequel's most memorable moments to heart.

Those fans have launched a Change.org petition for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's Michael Rooker to have a cameo in Disney's upcoming film Mary Poppins Returns.

"I believe the Walt Disney company will be missing out a great opportunity to treat their fans if they did not offer Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead, Guardians of the Galaxy) the chance to have a brief cameo in their upcoming production Mary Poppins Returns as a tribute to his famous line in the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy," the petition, started by Garyn Howells, reads.

The line in question comes from a moment in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 when Rooker's character, Yondu, floats downward from the sky while hanging onto his flying Yaka Arrow. Star-Lord remarks that Yondu looks like Mary Poppins, comparing Yondu's act to the iconic image of Poppins with her flying umbrella. Yondu asks if Mary Poppins is cool and after Star-Lord tells Yondu that "he" is Yondu exclaims, "I'm Mary Poppins, y'all."

This is one of the last acts of father-son bonding that Yondu and Star-Lord share before Yondu sacrifices himself to save Star-Lord in the film's climax.

"Rooker is currently not listed as one of the cast members but as Guardians of the Galaxy and Mary Poppins Returns are both movies made under the Disney umbrella, I feel it would be a delightful showcase or synergy and the company's ever-infectious sense of humour," the petition goes on.

The petition currently has 30 of the 100 signatures it is seeking.
