Iron Fist's Costume Will Make Sense After The Defenders

Now that Iron Fist has officially been renewed for a second season, one of the things highest on the want list of fans of the Immortal Weapon is the introduction of at least some sort of comic-accurate costume.

Danny Rand (Finn Jones) went the entire first season taking on the Hand without donning any sort of costume and typically wore plain street clothes.

Speaking with Den of Geek, Jones stated a traditional costume for the Living Weapon might be closer than we think.

"The thing with all of these shows is not that we're shy to bring the costumes. It's that we want them to feel authentic when it does happen," Jones said. "Danny's on this journey to understanding what his responsibility is. And throughout all of [Iron Fist] season 1, he was in no state of mind to put a suit on."

Jones went on the explain that having him cop a costume right from the get go would have been "ridiculous" as he didn't have the right to put on a superhero costume quite yet.

"He needs to work his sh-t out," explained Jones. "And certainly by the end of The Defenders, it will feel right."

After working with his pals Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage during the events of The Defenders, Jones says Danny will have his head wrapped around the superhero responsibilities a little more.

"From the beginning where we see Danny in Iron Fist to where he ends up in The Defenders, he has made that complete origin arc," Jones reflected. "He has shed his immature self. The idea is, in The Defenders, he has in a sense become the Iron Fist."

The Defenders stars Charlie Cox (Daredevil/Matt Murdock), Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Finn Jones (Iron Fist), Jessica Henwick (Colleen Wing), Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple), Sigourney Weaver (Alexandra), Elodie Yung (Elektra Natchios), Babs Olusanmokun (Sowande), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Simone Missick (Misty Knight), Rachel Taylor (Trish Walker), Scott Glenn (Stick), Eka Darville (Malcolm Ducasse), Debbi Morgan (Delores), Carrie-Anne Moss (Jeri Hogarth), and Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page).

Daredevil seasons 1 and 2, Jessica Jones season 1, Luke Cage season 1, and Iron Fist season 1 are all available on Netflix now, while The Defenders is expected later in the year. The Punisher does not currently have a release date. Netflix has announced a second season of Jessica Jones and a third season of Daredevil, but no release dates have been announced for those either.
