Sideshow's Thanos Maquette Meets Its Maker

05/08/2017 11:58 pm EDT

A few weeks back, Sideshow Collectibles revealed a massive statue featuring Thanos, a piece that any collector would want to add to their showcase.

Now, the toy giant has invited comic book writer and artist Jim Starlin to check out the statue and Starlin is quite impressed, to say the least.

"Thanos is the first character I ever created and clearly the most popular, so my career went down hill for the last 40 years, [laughs] so I have a special relationship with this guy," Starlin reflected. "The first thing I saw was his finger beckoning and thought they got it right."

Standing over 20" tall, the statue shows exquisite detail with the Mad Titan sitting on his throne, Infinity Gauntlet in tow.

"I'm just glad I don't have to draw it twenty times in a comic book or something like that," said Starlin. "It's just a gorgeous looking piece of work entirely. Currently, I think this new statue will be my favorite."

To see the statue — which is available for preorder through the Sideshow Collectibles website — in its full entirety, make sure to check out the gallery bellow!

After a handful of cameos throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe thus far, Thano is slated to be primary antagonist in next year's Avengers: Infinity War.
