Karen Gillan Reveals Whether She Shaved Her Whole Head For Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2

Crazy costumes and layers and layers of makeup and cosmetics are part of the job description when signing up for a superhero film, especially a cosmic one. That same theory extends to an actor's hair, which depending on the role might have to be grown out, trimmed, or completely shaved.

For Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 actress Karen Gillan, luckily things are improving in that area for the sequel. In the original, she had to completely shave her head for the role of Nebula, Gamora's sister. The good news for Gillan is that for the sequel the team has discovered a way to lessen the impact on her locks. In a new interview with The Wrap, Gillan explained the new process.

"I shaved half of my head this time, but they took away the butt — like, the underneath-half of my hair, and then left the top part. That was the best gift ever,"

Who knows, maybe for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 or even Avengers: Infinity War the team will figure out how to let her keep all of it. Of course, they could just write it in that Nebula wears a wig and be done with it, but that's probably not in the cards.

Set to the backdrop of 'Awesome Mixtape #2,' Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill's true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes' aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is written and directed by James Gunn (Slither). The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) as Peter Quill/Star-Lord; Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora; Dave Bautista (Spectre) as Drax; Vin Diesel (Furious 7) as the voice of Groot; Bradley Cooper (American Sniper) as the voice of Rocket; Michael Rooker (Jumper) as Yondu; Karen Gillan (The Big Short) as Nebula; and Sean Gunn (Gilmore Girls) as Kraglin. New cast members include Pom Klementieff (Oldboy), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby, Everest), Chris Sullivan (The Knick, The Drop) and Kurt Russell (The Hateful Eight, The Thing).
