When Logan hits theaters next week, the titular X-Men character will be on the run from a group of Reavers lead by Donald Pierce.

Pierce, revealed in several trailers, comes equipped with a bionic hand and bad attitude. His sole goal is to track down X-23 and bring her back to the labs in which she was created. There is little Pierce is not willing to do in order to achieve this goal.

Speaking to Donald Pierce actor Boyd Holbrook at a press event for Logan hosted by 20th Century Fox, ComicBook.com asked the man behind the villain why his character is so aggressively set on finding X-23.

"It's an asset," Holbrook said. "It's a value. As much as I might admire and might have designed X-23 off of Logan, she is my property and I need that back because my job is at risk, finances is at risk, the health and well-being of a lot of people which is why I made this thing in the first place, so that's why I need it back."

As for the hand which enables Pierce to participate in some of the super-human battles a bit more than a normal person might manage to, Holbrook also opened up about the procedure which enabled him to portray a bionic hand so convincingly.

"I chopped my arm off," Holdbrook said. "I just used a swiss army blade. It took a while and then I iced it and they just put on a glove armature and then after the filming I went back into surgery and they sewed back on."

As for how the production team behind Logan actually pulled of Pierce's bionic hand, it was likely a glove manufactured for special effects editing which was used to substitute Holbrook's real hand for the enhanced body part.
