Logan Photo Offers New Look At Wolverine Villain

The Logan Instagram account ahs released another black and white teaser photo fro the third solo Wolverine movie.

The photo shows what look like a cybernetic arm of an unnamed character. The photos caption simply reads "metal."

It seems likely that this metal arm belongs to one of the Reavers, the mutant-hating cyborg group that will serve as the antagonists of Logan. Specifically, it seems like this could be the arm of the Reavers' leader, Donald Pierce, play by Boyd Holbrook. However, all of ther Reavers possess some sort of cybernetic enhancement, so we can't be sure.

The Reavers are among the short list of X-Men enemies that have managed to do some real damage to Wolverine. Back when the X-Men were secretly operating out of an abandoned town in the Australian outback, the Reavers launched a sneak attack meant to take the entire X-Men team by surprise. Instead they found Wolverine there alone. Even Wolverine couldn't fend off Donald Pierce, Lady Deathstrike, and all of their cyborg henchman. In the end, the Reavers crucified Logan and left him to die.

Wolverine only survived because he was found by Jubilee, who at the time was not a part of the X-Men but an orphan secretly living in the town without the X-Men noiticing. Jubilee took Wolverine down and helped nurse him back to health. Jubilee is not expected to be a part of Logan, but perhaps a similar series of events will take place with X-23 filling in for Jubilee.

Logan was announced as the title for the third Wolverine solo movie at New York Comic-Con. A series of black and white teasers followed, leading up to the release of the first Logan trailer on Oct. 20.

In the wake of the Logan trailer release, director James Mangold (who also directed The Wolverine) has tried to explain exactly how Logan fits into the X-Men movies' messy timeline, though it may still be best for every fan's sanity to just enjoy the movie for what it is and not worry too much about the larger continuity.

In Logan, Set in the future of 2024, Logan and Professor Charles Xavier must cope with the loss of the X-Men when a corporation lead by Nathaniel Essex is destroying the world. With Logan's healing abilities slowly fading away and Xavier's Alzheimer's forcing him to forget, Logan must defeat Nathaniel Essex with the help of a young girl named Laura Kinney, a female clone of Wolverine.
