Agents Of SHIELD Will Attend NYCC 2017

With San Diego Comic-Con a few weeks away, many are exited to discover what Marvel will promote and tease at the event. But Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans were quickly disappointed to discover that the show's cast and crew would not be making an appearance at the iconic convention.

But now, it appears that the S.H.I.E.L.D. crew will be making up for that in spades, with an appearance at October's New York Comic Con.

After Clark Gregg humorously justified the SDCC absence in a series of tweets, he went on to hint that the show would make it up to fans in other ways - including, possibly, an NYCC panel.

This was later confirmed by one of the show's transmedia producers, Geoffrey Colo, in a tweet that you can see below.

This switcheroo does make sense, especially when you consider the current Marvel Television timeline. While early pre-production on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s fifth season is underway, the series is expected to premiere in January of 2018, taking a backseat in the fall to allow for the eight episode run of Marvel's Inhumans.

This makes NYCC a perfect time for S.H.I.E.L.D.'s cast and crew to reveal information on the upcoming season. Whether or not fans will see more of the popular Framework storyline, however, has yet to be seen.

The regular cast features Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, Henry Simmons as Agent Alphonso "Mack" MacKenzie, and John Hannah as Holden Radcliffe.

The fifth season of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD will debut this coming Winter, consist of 22 episodes, and is shifting from Tuesday to Friday nights and airing at 9 p.m -- taking over The Inhumans timeslot.

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD was co-created by Joss Whedon (The Avengers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen (Dollhouse, Dr.Horrible's Sing-Along Blog), who also serve as executive producers along with Jeffrey Bell (Angel, Alias) and Jeph Loeb (Jessica Jones, Daredevil). Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is produced by Marvel Television and ABCStudios.
