Here's How Marvel's The Defenders Is Like The Hangover

In a few months, Netflix is poised to change the entertainment game once again thanks to a brand-new Marvel series. Following shortly after the debut of Marvel's Iron Fist, the streaming site will rollout a special miniseries which brings its biggest superheroes together. Marvel's The Defenders is slated to bring together characters like Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, and Iron Fist as they work to take down a villain whose eyes are set on New York. However, don't expect the series to be all doom-and-gloom.

In fact, fans should expect to get some hearty laughs out of the Defenders and their interactions. According to one of the series' stars, the superhero squad's relationship will have people thinking back to The Hangover.

In a recent interview with Empire, the folks behind Marvel's The Defenders opened up about their joint series. It was there that Mike Colter (Luke Cage) said the vigilante team would not mix well with one another at first, but hopefully none of them will wake up with a Mike Tyson tattoo! Here's what Colter said the upcoming Netflix miniseries has in common with The Hangover:

"We're very reluctant at first. Nobody really wants to work with anyone. By the end of the show, I think it might be more like The Hangover. 'I don't ever want to see you again!'"

Fans have already seen a bit of the off-putting relationship the team will share with one another. Luke Cage's first meeting with Iron Fist was previewed in a trailer, and it did not turn out well for either hero. Iron Fist got shaken down by the elder man, but Danny Rand wasn't willing to stay down for long. When the Immortal Iron Fist used his powers to throw a hook at Cage's face, the invulnerable man felt every bit of the bone-breaking blow.

Yikes! Talk about a first impression, huh?

The miniseries will also feature Sigourney Weaver as the villain, Alexandra (Sigourney Weaver), and several recurring guest stars from Marvel's Daredevil, Marvel's Jessica Jones, Marvel's Luke Cage, and Marvel's Iron Fist, including Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Scott Glenn as Stick, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, and Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing.
