Marvel's Inhumans TV Character Breakdowns Revealed

Marvel's The Inhumans is coming to TV - by way of a special in-theater premiere - this fall. That much we already knew, but while the Inhumans royal family was rumored and reported, Marvel TV was mum on exactly who would be in the show. That's no longer the case, as ThatHashtagShow received a tip with a SAG-AFTRA Casting call for the series.

The casting call breaks down the principal cast, with seven characters that are codenamed but very clearly representing the members of the Inhumans core royal family. Marvel tried to disguise the casting call the best they could, with it being for "UNTITLED DRAMA PROJECT" on ABC, and names like "Broderick" and "Marty," but there's little question this is actually for The Inhumans. The descriptions of the characters make it sound like they'll be a tight-knit family, and maybe even mob style.

Black Bolt

The Inhumans patriarch and king is first up, under the codename "Broderick." He's described as a strong, silent type, which is an understatement for Black Bolt. The character in the comics has the ability of a sonic boom of a voice - just a whisper from him can level a building; if he screams, he could potentially cut an entire planet in half.

[BRODERICK]Male. 30-40. Caucasian. Can say volumes with just a look. Strong, thoughtful and private, he's unaccustomed to being questioned or feeling a need to answer to anyone, to an extent that can verge on arrogance. SERIES REGULAR, AEP.

Medusa

The queen of the Inhumans, Medusa, is next up. She has a nearly telepathic bond with Black Bolt, and is able to communicate his thoughts and desires to their family and their subjects easily. It sounds like some on the show will question how much her relaying of his leadership means, though. We imagine they won't be focused on casting a redhead, since they're going to need a wig and some extensive CGI - Medusa's actual power is active prehensile hair (yes, seriously).

[MARJORIE]Female. 30-40. Caucasian. An elegant and intelligent advisor to her husband, she struggles to find her place outside of their relationship, as others tend to view her as just a pretty face. Strong and resourceful, she's not afraid to break the rules when the situation demands it. SERIES REGULAR, AEP.

Maximus

Black Bolt's brother Maximus is often called Maximus the Mad in the pages of Marvel Comics, so, foreshadowing there. He has a natural ability to bring people to his cause - and his superpower helps that along. His powers are fairly ill-defined in the comics, except that they're a form of telepathic mind control; basically, think of it as an amped-up Jedi mind trick and you have a good idea of how it'll go.

[MARTY]Male. 30-40. Caucasian. Broderick's younger brother; he is intelligent, charming and articulate. He comes across as a man of the people but secretly covets power. SERIES REGULAR, AEP.

Karnak

Karnak is the strategist of the Inhumans royal family. He's a master martial artist, but his actual ability is one of the coolest in all of comics. He can naturally see the flaw in anything, be it a person's fighting style, a wall, a force field, or a larger plan, and exploit it. Shattering a steel door with a single pinpointed touch should make for a lot of visibly exciting moments with this character.

[KEVIN]Male. 30-40. Open. Slight of build, his mind is his greatest asset. Always prepared with a plan, his outlook on life is the glass is always half-empty and often cracked and dirty as well. Though his outlook can be grim he has a droll, dry sense of humor. SERIES REGULAR, AEP.

Gorgon

Gorgon is a character who has had a bit more fluid representation over the years. The long and short of it is, he's the muscle of the team/family, with super strength, and hooved legs that let him stomp to create isolated earthquakes. It doesn't sound like he'll have the legs here; usually they'll note when prosthetics or make-up effects (as they do for another character later) are needed for a character. In recent years, he's also been the de facto trainer of new Inhumans recruits.

[GRADY]Male. 25-35. Open. Impetuous and brash, he has serious impulse control issues which frequently get him into trouble whether its women, booze or fighting. He loves life and lives in the moment for better or worse. SERIES REGULAR, AEP.

Crystal

Crystal is Medusa's younger sister, and a lot less world-weary than the rest of the Inhumans. While for years (or decades or even centuries depending on the way they're handling the mythos here), the Inhumans wanted to remain isolated and hidden from the rest of the world, Crystal liked the idea of being out in the world, interacting with other heroes, normal humans, and more. Her powers give her control over the elements: Air, Earth, Fire, and Water, so she will be a big effects budget character when it comes time for action.

[CHRISTINE]Female. 18-25 to play 18. Caucasian. Soulful but still learning the ways of the world, she has the arrogance of youth. Impetuous and independent she is also deeply devoted to her family. SERIES REGULAR, AEP.

Triton

Finally we have Triton, who in the comics is Karnak's brother. He was exposed to the powers-giving and transformative Terrigen Mists as a baby, and it changed his entire physiology, essentially making him a merman. With green scales for skin, a dorsal fin, and webbed fingers and toes, you can guess his actual powers: he can breathe water, swim superfast, and has superhuman speed and strength underwater. They do note in his casting call that the role will require special effects makeup, but don't expect them to go THIS fishy with him.

[TIMOTHY]Male. 25-35. Open. SFXMU required. Supremely athletic. The ultimate picture of cool. He's calm under pressure and willing to do anything to get the job done.
