New Infinity War Details Reveal Thanos As Most Frightening Avengers Villain

Infinity War is "the culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe as started in 2008 with the release Iron Man," says Head of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige in a new first look at Avengers: Infinity War video.

The road to Thanos has been a long one. In fact, it's likely a road the Avengers will wish they never reached the destination on, given the description Feige gives of the Mad Titan.

"For us, the important thing is making it all come together," Feige said. "We know they're gonna face Thanos. We've been setting that up since Avengers 1. How do you do that in a way that is unexpected that pits the Avengers against somebody who is more powerful than anybody they've faced and yet make them completely unprepared to face them? Well, you tear them apart, and that's why we did Civil War before Infinity War."

Then, there's the outright description which will send chills down the spine of any comic book fan who has flipped the pages of the Infinity Gauntlet story. "Thanos shows us why he's the biggest, the best, the baddest villain that we've ever had," Feige said. "And the most frightening villain that the Avengers have ever faced."

Might Thanos use the Gauntlet to wreak havoc on the Avengers? Absolutely. As for whether or not he'll turn Thor to glass, slap the neck out of Captain America, and rip Iron Man's head off... We'll just have to wait and see!

Thanos has his work cut out for him, regardless of the Avengers' current friends lists. He'll ultimately be facing Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Scarlet Witch, Black Panther, Black Widow, Hawkeye, the Hulk, Thor, and more earth-based heroes in addition to the entire Guardians of the Galaxy squad which will only grow larger in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 later this year.

Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters in May of 2017.
