New Logan Photos Show Off Wolverine, Caliban, And Lots Of Villains

In a couple of months, fans will have a brand-new superhero flick to look forward to - but it might just break your heart. In March, Hugh Jackman will return to the the big screen to play his iconic X-Men character for a final time. Logan will see the jaded mutant go on the run with an ailing Professor Xavier as they try to keep a young mutant girl from government hands. And, now, a slew of still images from the film have been released thanks to Empire Magazine.

The publication's most recent issue features several unseen photos from Logan, and they give fans a good look at folks like Caliban and the film's villainous Reavers.

In one of the photos, Wolverine can be seen wearing a sharp suit while smoking a cigar in a seedy alley. Drenched in neon lights, the former X-Men looks world-weary as a pair of strangers linger behind him. Another photo highlights Caliban who is being played by Stephen Merchant now. The pale mutant was first introduced in to moviegoers when 20th Century Fox released X-Men: Apocalypse, but the role was recast for Logan.

The rest of the photos go on to show off the film's legion of villains. Richard E. Grant can be seen dressed in costume as Dr. Zander Rice, a scientist whose experiments would leave even the most hard-hearted people aghast. And, of course, fans can see new pictures of the tatted Reavers who come to retrieve the young mutant fans know as X-23 from Logan's care when she escape their facility.

Logan takes place in the year 2029, where mutant births have become extremely rare. The defenders of mutant kind, the X-Men, are long gone, and the only remains of them are an old and struggling Charles Xavier and a weary Logan. Logan's vaunted healing factor has slowed, and at times doesn't seem to work at all. When a young mutant needs his help, Logan has to unsheathe his claws once more. His job isn't over yet.

Logan stars Hugh Jackman (Logan), Boyd Holbrook (Donald Pierce), Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier), Dafne Keen (Laura Kinney/X-23), Doris Morgado (Maria), Stephen Merchant (Caliban), Elizabeth Rodriguez (Gabriela), and Richard E. Grant (Dr. Zander Rice). James Mangold is directing and helped on the screenplay along with Scott Frank and Michael Green.
