"I'm developing a film for Fox and I'll just say two words. Doctor. Doom."

For fans, this announcement is one they did not see coming. Doctor Doom is one of Marvel's most iconic villains, but he has yet to get his due in theaters. The baddie has been featured in both of 20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four films, but the genius hasn't gotten to stretch is diabolical muscles to their fullest.

Doctor Doom's last cinematic outing was in Fantastic Four circa 2015, but fans tend to overlook that blip with Marvel's various movies. Reports surfaced earlier this year that Fox was looking to reboot Fantastic Four yet again with a more kid-centric tone. Bleeding Cool reported Seth Grahame-Smith penned a script for the Fantastic Four reboot, but there was no word on whether Doctor Doom would take part in the film.

If you are not familiar with Doctor Doom, then you should know the villain was created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee in the 1960s. The character first appeared in The Fantastic Four #5 and became known as the group's de facto nemesis. Doctor Doom had a rough childhood as both of parents were murdered. His mother was killed by the demon Mephisto after calling upon him for power, and Doom's father was murdered by King Vladimer of Latveria once he failed to save the ruler's wife.

For those of you who need some convincing about the Doctor Doom movie, then you should know this; Recently, Stan Lee admitted the villain was his favorite baddie of the Marvel Universe, but the comic icon thinks Doctor Doom does get a bad rap. Last year, Lee was asked by fan about which of Marvel's villains makes him the most excited, and he had this to say:

"I think maybe Doctor Doom. Now, I'll tell you why: Everybody has Doctor Doom misunderstood. Everybody thinks he's a criminal, but all he wants is to rule the world. Now, if you really think about it objectively, you could just walk up to a police officer and you could say, 'Excuse me, officer? I want to rule the world.' He can't arrest you. It's not a crime to want to rule the world."

He continued, explaining, "It's unfair that he's considered a villain. He just wants to rule the world and maybe he could do a better job of it. So, I'm very interested in Doctor Doom, and I'd like to clear his name."
