Putting Together The Marvel Magnificent Seven

Star-Lord
Every team needs a leader, and you might be surprised that Captain America nor Iron Man are listed in this spot. That's because it takes a certain type of personality to not only keep your cool under pressure but to also have the temperament and versatile "gray area" to enlist the help of those less saintly than others.
Star-Lord doesn't mind working with a few eccentric types, and if he needs to get the job done, he'll consider just about anything that will allow him to do that, even if it requires dealing with those who aren't so thoroughly heroic. Plus, it pays to have someone with a jetpack and twin pistols in a shootout.
Black Widow
If you're looking to put a group together, you need someone with some covert skills, and no one is better in that regard than Natasha Romanov, aka Black Widow.
The thing is at some point things will break down into all out warfare, and Widow can hold her own in that regard as well. Whether's it's ambushing the enemy sniper, chucking a sticky grenade onto their vehicles, or taking some people with her widow's bite, she's got an impressive arsenal at her disposal. You'll definitely be glad she's on your side.
Doctor Strange
When defending a village from attack, it's always preferable to bring lots of ammunition, a few first aid kits, and a person who can open the dark dimension to swallow a tank.
Yeah, that last one is probably the show stealer, but having Doctor Strange on your side can buy you precious time to strategize and set plans in motion. With a spell, he can confuse the enemy, reverse time to stop a building from being destroyed or put up a shield over an important location until you can take out the attacker.
Plus, when it's all said and done you're just a sling ring trip away from home.
Hawkeye
You've got to have someone who can pick people off from long range, and no one fits that bill better than the master marksman Hawkeye.
Hawkeye can lay down cover fire until your other people are in position, and of course if the enemy vehicles have tires he can stop them dead in their tracks. He's also got a few explosive arrows in his arsenal, so that group of soldiers who have taken cover behind that outhouse or pretty much doomed.
If he got a little help from Doctor Strange, he could even fire a time enchanted arrow into a group of enemies, reversing time in the affected area. It isn't a permanent solution of course, but it would take pockets of soldiers out of the battle for significant amounts of time.
Volstagg
Every group worth their salt needs a powerhouse, and the Asgardian Volstagg would be a perfect fit.
The Asgardians is known as much for his delightful personality and love of food and mead as he is for his combat skill on the battlefield. That shouldn't take away from how much of a force he can be, and there is rarely a situation that his vaunted skill with an ax can't sort out.
Just make sure to have plenty of mead around and you're golden. Heck, he might even let you just pay in food and drink and be done with it.
Lady Sif
There are times where an up close and personal method is necessary to hitting the enemy where it hurts, and for those situations, there are few more qualified than the lovely and deadly Lady Sif.
The Asgardian knows no match with a sword and shield, and if those weapons aren't available there are few more knowledgable about hand to hand combat than her. When you have a sword that can literally cut through magical barriers with ease, you are an asset to any team.
The Punisher
Sometimes you need a specialist, and in The Punisher's case, that specialty is taking people out permanently.
You need someone who can take out a small army on his own, and that's what Frank Castle does. Whether it's with a Gatling Gun, a sniper rifle, a pistol, or a baseball bat, Castle is skilled in the art of dismembering people, and you need someone who doesn't care about being heroic if you're going to survive.
You might not like him when the fight is over, but you'll be alive to dislike him, and that's a victory in itself.
