Riri Williams' Ironheart Takes Flight In New Live-Action MIT Trailer

It looks like MIT is a big fan of one of its most famous fictional students. Thanks to Marvel Comics, the prestigious college got a boost in geek cred when news broke that the universe's new Iron Man was a student there. Following Tony Stark's exit from the role, Riri Williams elected to suit up as the tech-savvy hero to the delight of millions. Known as Ironheart, the heroine was gifted with her very own comic book series, and now Massachusetts Institute of Technology is honoring Riri with a stunning live-action trailer.

Over on Youtube, a three-minute video centered on Ironheart dropped the other day. The clip shows a MIT student dressed as Riri going about her classes on-campus whilst she works on a secret project. The video culminates with the student finally building her own Iron Man suit which she then takes out for a spin.

The trailer itself was made for a very specific reason, and it has nothing to do with an audition for a movie. Rather, the clip was made to celebrate the school's anticipated "Pi Day" which is held on March 14th this year. On that date, MIT announces which new students have been accepted to the rigorous university, and it was a date that Riri had to experience for herself as well.

If you are wondering whether Stark feels threatened by Ironheart's emerging popularity, you don't have to be worried. Not only is the billionaire inventor a fan of Riri's in the comics, but the Avenger's real-life counterpart supports the heroine as well. When Ironheart was first announced to the public, Robert Downey Jr. was one of the first to promote Riri's creation. The actor took to Twitter, writing, "Get ready for a new generation of Marvel."

"Strap in and suit up, True Believer. There's a new hero in town. And she's ready to take the Marvel Universe by storm. Be there as Bendis and Caselli armor up to bring you a new hero for Marvel NOW!"
