Robbie Reyes' Ghost Rider Gains A New Power In Marvel Legacy

Marvel Legacy shined a big spotlight on the Ghost Rider, and by issue's end, he managed to add another power to his already impressive arsenal.

Spoilers incoming for Marvel Legacy #1, so if you haven't read it yet you've been warned.

Robbie Reyes just wanted some shut eye, but evidently, his amazing car decided to use that time to take a trip. Unfortunately, Reyes doesn't really know where he is and wakes up to law enforcement banging on the door. A chase follows, but that's the least of Ghost Rider's problems, as Starbrand shows up and, well, acts like he's a crazed loon.

For some reason, Starbrand is intent on killing Reyes, but that draws out the Ghost Rider, and the two proceed to battle it out. Ghost Rider is all the while trying to figure out why this guy wants to kill him, and Starbrand keeps talking in confusing tinfoil vagueness as he throws boulders at him.

Ghost Rider punches Starbrand into the very area he was trying to keep Ghost Rider away from, but when some guards try and stop him he obliterates them into dust and flies back to Ghost Rider. Not really a nice thing to do now is it?

Starbrand gets the upper hand for a minute, but Ghost Rider interrupts his gloating session and says "Not afraid of death. Done it before, but tell me, are you afraid...of a little penance?!"

Ghost Rider then unleashes his penance stare against Starbrand, causing Starbrand to say "Did it to save the world. Without the brand, there won't be enough to...you...you are all doomed."

He goes on for a bit longer and then implodes, with the brand fading into the ground. Reyes takes control once again, and is shocked at what he just did, saying "since when can I do that?"

The penance stare is a classic part of Ghost Rider's power set, but until now Reyes did not have access to that particular power. It allows the Ghost Rider to look into the eyes of his victims and make their feel all the pain they've inflicted on others.

Reyes can now call on this in battle, and it seems like he'll need it for the battle to come.
