Tom Holland Wants To Adapt Spider-Man's Clone Saga

Ire towards Marvel's infamous Clone Saga has lessened over the years, and Spider-Man: Homecoming's Tom Holland would love to see it brought to Sony's new movie universe.

When speaking to CinemaBlend, Holland brought up the Clone Saga as a possible premise, saying "There are so many things we have not seen in Spider-Man yet ... I want to use bad guys never seen in movies. The first films were so traditional, and so scrupulously followed the character's classic plot ... So there's a lot of stuff left in stock. The Clone Saga, for example."

Holland likes the idea of having playing multiple versions of Spider-Man but also the money, saying "It would be so cool... I could play seven characters. That means seven checks! And I like the idea of having characters in front of Spider-Man who have the same powers as him. ... It would make sense, because cloning is more or less coming true. It would make sense to talk about that. Like a villain who would say, 'This kid has super powers, I want twenty like him who fight for me. I'll take one of his hairs and try to clone him.' And obviously, it would go wrong!"

The 90's storyline pitted Peter Parker against the Jackal, who had created several clones of Spidey including the most famous Ben Reily. It started off as something interesting yet devolved into a bit of a trainwreck, mostly due to editorial misfires.

Also, while hate towards the storyline has indeed lessened, it hasn't gone away, so it would still gather some across the board reactions if Sony were to bring it to the big screen.

The cast includes Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, with Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr. It also includes Jon Favreau, Martin Starr, Kenneth Choi, Michael Mando, Selenis Leyva, Isabella Amara, Jorge Lendeborg, Jr., JJ Totah, and Hannibal Buress.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is in theaters now. Spider-Man: Homecoming lands on July 7, 2017, followed by Thor: Ragnarok on November 3, 2017. After that Black Panther debuts on February 16, 2018, while Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018. Ant-Man and the Wasp is slated for July 6, 2018, followed by Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019.
