The Defenders Will Reportedly Bring Back The Chaste

The Netflix-side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is moving right along. The Defenders wrapped filming nearly a month ago while The Punisher entered post-production last week. With two series in the hopper — and the filming for the second season of Jessica Jones underway as you read this — Marvel is moving full steam ahead on the streaming service.

Now, thanks to an interview in a Spanish-language magazine (via MCU Exchange), it appears that The Chaste will be making a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the magazine, it's revealed that Chilean movie star Marko Zaror (Machete Kills) will play Shaft, a member of Stick's group of assassins that serve as the sworn enemy of The Hand.

Should the interview stand to be accurate, Shaft will be the third member of The Chaste to appear behind Stick. Stick could be seen in an episode of Daredevil during its first season and Star was seen in a flashback sequence in the second season as he succumbed to injuries unleashed upon him by Elektra.

The return of The Chaste makes perfect sense as the Netflix corner of the MCU has dealt heavily with The Hand. We've seen the group in both Daredevil and Iron Fist, with the group playing a large role in both series.

The latest MCU show to hit Netflix, Iron Fist, revealed that there were at least three separate factions, each led by Madame Gao, Nobu, and Bakuto. That could be a pivotal piece of information as we look forward to finding more information about the exact role Alien and Avatar alum Sigourney Weaver will play in the show.

Though we know that she will serve as one of the bad guys, we're still unsure of her exact affiliation — whether it be IGH, The Hand, or a new organization we have yet to meet in the MCU. No matter which team she suits up for, The Defenders will need all the help they can get.

Marvel's The Defenders was developed by Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez. The miniseries will also feature Sigourney Weaver as the villain, Alexandra (Sigourney Weaver), and several recurring guest stars from Marvel's Daredevil, Marvel's Jessica Jones, Marvel's Luke Cage, and Marvel's Iron Fist, including Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Scott Glenn as Stick, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, and Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing.
