'The Punisher' Gets His Hands Dirty In New Photos

In the wake of the trailer finally hitting online, Netflix released new photos from their upcoming Marvel series The Punisher.

The pictures feature new looks at some of Frank Castle's allies and enemies, including Karen Page, Micro, Billy Russo, and Rawlins, the CIA agent out to get him.

The Punisher features Frank Castle in hiding after the events of Daredevil Season Two. The world thinks he's dead, and that's how he prefers it, but the conspiracy that resulted in the death of his family remains unsolved.

Jon Bernthal reprises his role alongside Deborah Ann Woll, who plays Karen Page in the new Marvel series. Ben Barnes, recently of Westworld, plays Russo — the man destined to become Jigsaw. And Paul Schulze plays the dubious Rawlins, a man with some unfinished business with Frank Castle.

It will be interesting to see Barnes' transformation, if it even happens in the series, to a full fledged super villain considering his relationship with Frank. The two served together in the military in the Netflix series.

Micro is another wildcard in the series. Though he typically aids the Punisher on his blood-fueled vendettas in the comic books, in the series he is a mystery. Daredevil ended with Frank getting his hands on a mysterious disc left for him to find after his confrontation with his old commanding officer who became the drug runner known as the Blacksmith.

What are Micro's intentions? And how does he know about Frank?

Other new characters include Homeland Security Agents Medani and Stein, who go on the hunt for Castle at the series' start but will more than likely end up sympathizing with him before the show is over.

Scroll through the photos to learn more, maybe Netflix will announce the premiere date by the time you're done.

The Punisher is rumored to hit the streaming service later in 2017.
