Thor: Ragnarok & Black Panther Posters Begin To Pop Up All Over San Diego

It's beginning to look at a lot like Comic Con, all through the town.

San Diego and its convention center are being taken over by Marvel posters with a little under a month left between the world and 2017's San Diego Comic Con International. Already, Marvel Studios has gotten a jump on promoting their next two films, with Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther being showcased on lamp posts outside of the convention center.

This only the beginning for the southern California city. By the time San Diego Comic Con rolls around, the city will be plastered with banners, billboards, and other advertisements for geek culture titles.

In 2016, Gotham and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. covered the towns train system. The Walking Dead claimed the Comic Con badges. CW shows such as Supergirl, The Flash, and Arrow were printed on hotel room key cards. Conan claimed the entire side of a bayside hotel. It's the biggest event in pop and geek culture and the city is starting to show signs of the 2017 event! Get excited!

For Marvel Studios, who skipped San Diego Comic Con in 2015 and elected to present footage exclusively at Disney's D23 Expo, this is a clear sign of where the priorities will lay. With Avengers: Infinity War on the horizon, it's likely the studio will roll out footage of some sort or unite the cast on stage for the ensemble flick but the third Thor and first Black Panther films will be at the forefront of the presentation.

Avengers: Infinity War is described by Marvel Studios as the culmination of everything in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Iron Man in 2008. The movie is filming now under directors Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

The expansive confirmed cast includes Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Holland, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bethany, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Pom Klementieff, and Josh Brolin as the villain Thanos.

Avengers: Infinity War and its as-yet-untitled sequel are filming back-to-back for a May 4, 2018 and May 3, 2019 release, respectively.
