Tom Hiddleston Talks Brie Larson's Casting As Captain Marvel And Thor: Ragnarok

Tom Hiddleston just finished facing down a massive gorilla in Kong: Skull Island, and now he's trying to either fend off or cause the extinction of everything in Thor: Ragnarok as Loki. While cosmic mischief is old hat for him, he is excited that the Marvel Universe is bringing in some new blood, including Brie Larson.

In a recent interview with MTV, Hiddleston was asked about Larson, who co-starred with him in Skull Island as reporter Mason Weaver. While Kong is just now coming to theaters, the two filmed the project (along with fellow Marvel actor Samuel L. Jackson) awhile back but feels she will navigate things without a problem. "I haven't really spoken to her about it because she got cast after we finished, but she'll be fine. She's worked with Kong now so she knows what she's doing."

While he hasn't had the chance to talk to his Kong co-star about her new position in the Marvel Universe, he is excited for people to see what director Taika Waititi has in store for fans in Thor: Ragnarok. "Taika Waititi's vision is incredible, and in Norse Mythology Ragnarok means the end of everything. The end of the world, the universe, time and space, so the stakes are quite high, and without revealing too much the way that happens, or the way it beings, it's just going to be spectacular. There are three or four new actors in it who have brought something completely different and unique. There's Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, Karl Urban, and Tessa Thompson."

In Marvel Studios' Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first, he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!

Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi with a screenplay by Eric Pearson. The film stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Tom Hiddleston reprising his role as Loki. They are joined by Cate Blanchett (Hela), Idris Elba (Heimdall), Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Karl Urban (Skurge), Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Sam Neill, Ray Stevenson (Volstagg), Tadanobu Asano (Hogun), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk), and Benedict Cumberbatch (Dr. Stephen Strange).

Next up for Marvel is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 on May 5, 2017. Spider-Man: Homecoming lands on July 7, 2017, followed by Thor: Ragnarok on November 3, 2017. After that Black Panther debuts on February 16, 2018, while Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018. Ant-Man and the Wasp is slated for July 6, 2018, followed by Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019.
