Tom Holland On Whether He'll Star In The Venom, Black Cat Films

This month, fans of Spider-Man have been sent into all sorts of tizzies. Sony Pictures made headlines not too long ago when news broke that the studio had secured a release date for Venom. The spinoff film would feature one of the nastiest symbiotic parasites from the Marvel Universe, and fans were stunned by the sudden revelation. Shortly after, more reports surfaced that Sony had hired a screenwriter to develop a standalone film starring Silver Sable and Black Cat. And, for Spider-Man, the studio is dropping a new trailer for the hero's solo film tomorrow which streamed early for Cinema Con attendees hours ago.

With so much news happening, fans are getting whiplash from all the updates, but there is one question everyone is still asking. If Sony is going to explore other facets of the Spider-Verse, will Tom Holland be brought in to play the webbed vigilante.

Well, now, Holland is answering that very question. In an interview with Variety, the British actor sat down to talk about his work as Spider-Man, and the topic of Sony did come up. When asked if he would be in the Venom or Black Cat features, here's what Holland had to say:

"I have no idea. I haven't read a script. I haven't seen any sort of concept art, so that would be something I would decide on when I see material."

Of course, fans aren't too surprised by this answer. Venom and Black Cat are still in their infantile stages of pre-production. And, as fans already know, reports have surfaced which suggest these spinoff films will have no part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Holland's take on Spider-Man in firmly entrenched in that franchise's lore, so his appearance in either film would connect it back to the world of Iron Man and more.

So, for now, it looks like Venom and Black Cat won't have to worry about any neighborhood spiders giving them a hard time.

The official Spider-Man: Homecoming synopsis is listed below.

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
