20th Century Fox released a new set of posters that take a decidedly different approach than their marketing campaign thus far.

Beast, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, and Quicksilver all get their very own album cover, modeled after the great singles of the 80's (via Facebook). Hank McCoy's Hungry Like The Beast derives inspiration from Duran Duran's Hungry Like The Wolf while Cyclops's Optic Visor at Night clearly homages Corey Hart's Sunglasses at Night.

Jean Grey strikes a pose on her School of the Telepathic Mind cover, which is inspired by Culture Club's Church of the Poison Mind. Nightcrawler gets down like David Bowie in his Let's Bamf cover, based on Bowie's Let's Dance. Rounding out the group is Quicksilver's I Run, which is based on A Flock Of Seagull's I Ran.

The album covers are pretty accurate to their real life cousins, though my favorite has to be Jean Grey's. I don't know why really, but like almost everything about the 80's, it just sort of calls to me. Oh, and if we're being honest about it, Cyclops' cover should actually read "I wear my sunglasses all the time...because I have to...because if I don't I will destroy everything around me...". Okay, maybe we don't go with that. Doesn't ring off the tongue like I thought it would.

Have to give the marketing department some props on this, but I do have a question. Where is my Apocalypse cover of Don Johnson's Heartbeat? I would pay to see that, I really would.
