Jessica Chastain Reveals She Isn't Playing Lilandra in 'X-Men: Dark Phoenix'

Well, contrary to popular belief, it looks as though Jessica Chastain won't be bringing Lilandra to life after all.

On Friday, the actress posted a picture to Instagram of a rainbow from the set of X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The image was first posted by director Simon Kinberg, claiming that he had wrapped the first day on set with Chastain.

After she shared it, Chastain took to the comments to interact with the fans and provide a little scoop of information. What she ended up saying was a bit of a curveball for X-Men fans.

"Hey folks, want a scoop? I'm not playing Lilandra...."

Many believe that Chastain had been cast as the ruler of Empress of the Shi'ar Empire, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Could this mean that Dark Phoenix won't be tackling the Shi'ar at all? Or was Chastain just offering some clarity about her role?

Unfortunately, Chastain didn't elaborate on the comment at any point. All we know now is that she isn't playing Lilandra.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is currently filming, and it's scheduled to hit theaters on November 2, 2018.
