X-Men: New Legion Trailer And Premiere Date Released

FX has released a new trailer for the X-Men-inspired television series Legion.

The trailer reveals that the series will premiere on Feb. 8, 2017.

The trailer also adds a new layer of possible unreality to the already questionable state of things in Legion by implying that David Haller's delusions may actually be manufactured by the government as part of their attempt to control and subdue the mutant population.

FX's Legion is based on the Marvel Comics character created by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz in the pages of the X-Men spinoff series New Mutants. Legion, real name David Haller, is the mutant son of Professor X. David is an incredibly powerful mutant with a full array of powers, but each of those powers is controlled by one of his multiple personalities, and not all of those personalities have David's or anyone else's best interests in mind.

In Legion, David Haller was diagnosed with schizophrenia at a young age and has been a patient in various psychiatric hospitals since. After Haller has an encounter with a fellow psychiatric patient, he is confronted with the possibility that there may be more to him than mental illness.

Legion is created by Noah Hawley (Fargo), who will also serve as showrunner, and is a co-production of Marvel Television and FX Productions. Legion stars Dan Stevens as David Haller, along with Rachel Keller, Jean Smart, Aubrey Plaza, Jeremie Harris, Amber Midthunder, Katie Aselton, and Bill Irwin.

Legion premieres on FX on Feb. 8, 2017.
