X-Men Spinoff New Mutants Movie Title And Production Start Date Revealed

It sounds like things are finally kicking into gear for the upcoming X-Men young adult spin-off New Mutants.

Earlier this month, reports surfaced that a new X-Men movie would begin filming in early 2017. There was some debate over whether this was a start date for the sequel to X-Men: Apocalypse, but it was quickly confirmed as a start day for The New Mutants.

A new report coming from Omega Underground now confirmed that the film will begin filming in Montreal in May 2017.

On top of that, the report shows the film's official title as X-Men: The New Mutants. The addition of the X-Men name in front of the title lets audiences know that it part of the same franchise as the Bryan Singer movies but may lead to some confusion as to why it features a wholly different set of characters.

20th Century Fox and writer/director Josh Boone haven't officially commented on the status of The New Mutants movie at present, though rumor has it that the film will be based on the "Demon Bear" saga, one of the most popular stories from the early days of the New Mutants comic book.

However, if New Mutants is actually going to start filming in May 2017, 20th Century Fox can't expect to keep fans waiting much longer for casting announcements to start rolling out. Who know, maybe there will even be a promo to accompany Legion when it debuts on FX in February.
