New Alien: Covenant Photos Released, Details On Michael Fassbender's Villainous Role

Yesterday Empire unveiled the cover of their latest magazine, which promises to provide more details and horrifying images from the upcoming Alien: Covenant—the 9th Most Anticipated Film on ComicBook.com.

While that subscriber exclusive cover hinted at the return of the original Alien species, the Xenomorph, the latest prequel/sequel film in the franchise will feature a new specimen of terror referred to as the Neomorph.

Now we have a clear idea of what the Neomorph will look like, thanks to AVP Galaxy.

It appears that the new Alien will have a closer resemblance to H.R. Giger's original designs of the creature, with a sleeker and more elegant look. Gone are the tubes and pipes protruding from the Alien's body—instead it appears to be covered in a translucent flesh.

The article also hints at Michael Fassbender's David and his diabolical intentions, further defining the two roles the actor will play.

Fassbender will also play a different model of the android—the newer version named Walter who will have less emotion but more care for his crewmates.

This puts Walter and David in opposition to each other, but the magazine states that the antagonistic David will attempt to sway his counterpart to the dark side.

Prometheus served as a substantial platform to build the mythos of the Alien universe, with the major complaint being that it isn't as scary as its predecessors in its attempt to create a story that connects all of the works in the greater franchise.

Though Alien: Covenant will build on that platform, it will also go back to the scares that made Ridley Scott's original film the terrifying masterpiece that it is. Screenwriter John Logan wasn't interested in making Prometheus 2 and, apparently, neither was Scott.

The result should be a scare-raising return to form and another true entry in the Alien franchise.

Alien: Covenant releases in theaters May 19.

Director Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.

The cast features Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, and Benjamin Rigby.
