Batman V. Superman: Knightmare Batman Gets A New Name
02/21/2016 11:46 am EST
Almost immediately after the washed-out, sandy, windy images of Batman being unmasked and manhandled by Superman first arrived online, most fans have assumed this is a worst-case scenario fantasy concocted by Bruce Wayne.
This was bolstered by a track on the score being called "Knightmare," and shortly thereafter products started to emerge with the desert-clad Batman named "Knightmare Batman," seeming to reinforce that impression.
According to an Amazon listing, though, that Batman variant will also be known as "Future Showdown" Batman in at least one toy.
The previously-revealed Funko Pop remains "Knightmare Batman," though, and even has packaging to back that up ("Future Showdown" doesn't).
The idea of a "future showdown" here isn't far off from what many people have projected: Batman and the Justice League facing off against Darkseid and his Parademons are a part of the "Knightmare," as far as anyone can tell.
Fearing the actions of a god-like Super Hero left unchecked, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis's most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it's ever known before.
