Philip Francis Nowlan's novella Armageddon 2419 A.D., which was first published in Amazing Stories magazine (1928), is being developed into a feature film by Angryfilms, according to Deadline.
Armageddon 2419 A.D. told the tale of Anthony Rogers--later became known as Buck Rogers--a man from 1927 that got stuck in suspended animated when investigating a gas leak in a coal mine in Pennsylvania. When he awakens it is nearly 500 years later and a lot has changed. The United States has been conquered by Mongolians and Russians with sophisticated technology. In secret, Americans are building up their own futuristic weapons in hopes of defeating their conquerors.
This was the original Buck Rogers story which led to a newspaper comic, a film serial, a radio program and a television series on NBC starring Gil Gerard, that ran from 1979 to 1981.
