The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Silver Chair - Filming Start Date And More Revealed

The Narnia franchise has been in limbo for some time, but new details have come to light that reveals when fans can expect a new addition to the series.

Thanks to what seems to be an unearthed press release from Sony (via The Abandoning), The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair will be a talent filled affair. In addition to Joe Johnston in the director's chair, the film will also feature the talents of Oscar-nominated production designer Andy Nicholson (Gravity), Oscar-winning designer Jacqueline West (The Revenant), and Oscar-nominated composer Thomas Newman (Skyfall).

Johnston's will also be working with Robert Dalva and Shelly Johnson, who both worked with him on Captain America: The First Avenger. Nina Gold and Theo Park of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Paddington fame respectively, are acting as casting directors for the project.

The release also reveals when The Silver Chair will start shooting, currently pegged for November. The production will run for five months and will film in the north and south islands of New Zealand as well as Henderson Valley Studios.

The Silver Chair is the fourth book in C.S. Lewis' acclaimed series and takes place 60 years after the events of Voyage of the Dawn Treader. You can view the included synopsis from the releases below.

"60 years after the events of Voyage of the Dawn Treader, King Caspian is now an old man and in failing health, soon to die. More than ten years earlier his wife was killed by a serpent and his only son Rilian disappeared without a trace, leaving Narnia without an heir. Many of Narnia's greatest heroes have set out in search of the prince but never returned. Aslan enlists the help of schoolchildren Jill and Eustace to find the lost prince. They're paired with a cheerful pessimist, a Marshwiggle named Puddleglum to guide them on their journey. Through dangers untold and caverns deep and dark, the noble band of friends pursue the quest that brings them face to face with an evil more beautiful and more deadly than they ever expected."

The first three movies in the franchise brought in over $1.5 billion worldwide, though there was a significant drop off after the first film, which alone grossed over $745 million worldwide. The last film debuted in 2010, and rumors of a continuation remained active for some time. The Silver Chair will be a continuation of the story but will reboot the franchise in every other sense.
