Deadpool Estimated To Make $55 Million In Second Weekend

Deadpool is expected to have a stellar second act at the box office. After a record-breaking 4-day opening weekend, the Fox superhero movie is expected to bring in another $55 million during its second weekend.
If these projection hold true, Deadpool will cross the $200 million mark domestically by Monday.
Deadpool isn't exactly facing huge competition. Openers Race, Risen, and The Witch all have a certain amount of buzz around them, and are expected to perform well for their genre, but won't come anywhere near Deadpool's blockbuster numbers.
Based upon Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Deadpool is directed by Tim Miller, with a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T. J. Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapičić, and Leslie Uggams.
Deadpool is now playing in theaters.
