Fox Comic Con Panel: Deadpool, Fantastic Four & X-Men Apocalypse Recap

The 20th Century Fox panel at Comic Con has been one clouded in mystery. Fox did not release an official panel schedule, but Ryan Reynolds revealed that the Deadpool cast will be appearing. Also, director Bryan Singer revealed that he was heading to Comic Con, presumable with several members of the X-Men: Apocalypse cast joining him.

With Fantastic Four set to be released on August 7, 2015, it's also a good bet that there will be quite a bit of promotion for that film during the panel. Deadpool is set to hit theaters on February 12, 2016, and X-Men: Apocalypse is set for a May 27, 2016 release date.

Folks have been asked to find their seats, the panel is going to begin, "right now."

Chris Hardwick comes out, as excited as ever, to host the panel. He thanks the crowd and calls hosting "A privilege." It's his last Hall H panel and he says it will be, "Amazing," and promises, "a lot of footage." He says it's omportant the audience stay until to the end.

He introduces the first trailer, a world premiere: Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials.

The lights come back on and Hardwick introduces director Wes Ball and the cast of the film, including Dylan O'Brien of Teen Wolf fame.

The cast analyzes their characters progress since the first installment of the Maze Runner franchise. O'Brien says his character is motivated by the "loss of a particular friend." He's avoiding dropping a spoiler the way he did last year!

Giancarlo Esposito (Revolution)calls the movie "challenging," and is audibly and visibly excited for the fans to go see the movie. Ball says he wanted this movie "to feel totally different," and it starts, "exactly where the last one left off." He also promises, "some cool new twists and turns." Talking about the new threats, Ball introduces a new clip for the fans.

SCORCH TRIALS FOOTAGE DESCRIPTION

Thomas and Brenda are in a tunnel using flashlights to illuminate graffitied walls as they walk through the murky floors. Eerie music accompanies the scene. He looks for Brenda. She calls him over to look a a wall covered in vines. They're in a sewage pipe. A shriek comes from one of the pipes and a rat emerges to their relief. It's badly cut and scurries away only to be snatched up by what looks like a zombie and eaten as the zombie breaks free of the vines constraining it. They look like the creatures from I Am Legend but sound like the Clickers from The Last of Us. A horde chases them and shrieks as Thomas and Brenda sprint away. The running continues as the two arrive at a ledge out of nowhere. A building is collapsed and leaning on another and the creatures are closing in.

That concludes the Maze Runner panel.

Hardwick introduces the world premiere of Victor Frankenstein's trailer, it plays, and James McAvoy, Daniel Radcliffe, and Victor Frankenstein director Paul McCuglin take the stage.

James McAvoy wears a hat to hide his bald head for X-Men: Apocalypse which should be coming up soon. The three joke about the violence and fan reactions of Victor Frankenstein. Radcliffe says he was on board right away and says, "This is a very different Igor." McAvoy compares Radcliffe's character to Liam Neeson and Taken, joking, "He has a very particular set of skills." He adds that his own character has an ego and it "gets in the way of himself."

McAvoy insists McAvoy acts out an embarrassing moment from the first day of the shoot. Radcliffe faces the wall behind him and McAvoy gets behind him, which is followed by a few jokes that disregard the "There are guests in the audience who are under 18," tip on the back of their name cards. A bunch of innuendos and jokes follow before Hardwick introduces a clip.

Victor Frankenstien Clip Description

Dr. Frankenstein walks down the hall and yells about a "Big presentation in Hall H". Seriously. He begins explaining justification for the life he created and unveils a creature laid on a gurney in front of him. He invites the on-lookers to get closer but they're uneasy. "By the miracle of electricity, I give you in 3... 2... 1.... Life" He electrifies the creation and electricity runs through the body and he touches it, shocking himself. On-lookers mock the Doctor. He electrocutes himself trying to prove himself but the mocking continues until the creation begins to breathe. "It's alive," the doctor says before the monkey-like creation bursts from the table and he is electrocuted and hurled backwards. Elsewhere, Igor enters a laboratory and the creature suddenly lunges at him.

That concludes Victor Frankenstein. Hardwick is excited, "We're in the middle of it!" He introduces Josh Trank, Simon Kinberg, Miles Teler, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Jaime Bell, and Toby Kebbell of Fantastic Four.

Thank says "He never collected the comics." He prefered Blockbuster and movies. He watched the cartoons, though, and loved the characters.

Trank admits he was considering a break from super hero movies, but Trank's pitch of an "emotional, character driven story," hooked him. "It was more science than science fiction."

Teller says he considers Reed Richards a "real person." He ciphered through books a little bit to prepare for the role. He jokes that he thought his super hero chances came and went when he didn't get to play Spider-Man. Speaking of the film, he says "It's cool. It's a very cool film."

Hardwick questions would lured Mara in. She says she always wanted to be in a super hero film but what she loved about this one is, "the family aspect of it." She didn't know much about the Fantastic Four and the origins of it all but claims the movie is a little "darker" than people are used to. Mara explains that you get to know the characters before they get their powers and she loved Trank's ideas for the film. Jordan says being a comic book fan, being in this film, "Is like living out a childhood dream." Turning to Bell, Hardwick wants to know about Ben Grimm. Bell says "this incarnation of Ben, he's an every kid. He could be any kid in America," adding, "he has one friend, who happens to be Reed Richards." Kebbell, who plays the reinvented Doctor Doom, claims the character of Doctor Doom is, "the best villain of all time." He wants to destroy Reed Richards.

Trank says "It's an origin but it almost works as a prequel of the characters before they become the iconic version of those characters," adding, "It's a group of friends who become a family." The film is completely done per it's director. Hardwick introduces the world premiere of the final Fantastic Four trailer.

FANTASTIC FOUR TRAILER DESCRIPTION

"When I grow up I want to be the first person to teleport himself," Reed explains to his class. The teacher mocks him. Young Reed shows off his device which makes his house shake, the power boxes outside explode, and young Ben calls Reed insane. Current age, the four grace the screen and enter the teleportation device to be sent to another planet. Reed stretches and the Human Torch burns while their attached to gurneys. Sue explores her powers. Johnny lands emphatically and makes a joke. The thing drops out of a plane. The government thinks they're powerful which makes them dangerous. The ground lefts up and creates a hole in the ground in a snowy location. The government wants the Fantastic Four's help. The Thing fights in the first. Doom stops an incoming boiler with one hand. Action sequences as Johnny Storm flies at apparently the speed of light.

"SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT" FOOTAGE DESCRIPTION

The camera approaches a dimly lit character in a chair as a monologue filled with foul language introduces Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. Deadpool claps the light on, says a few thinks culminating with "Let's f---ing do this." He goes to put a pipe in his mouth but drops it because he is in his Deadpool suit and claps the light off.

Deadpool breaks the fourth wall if this footage was an indication. The lights come on and Ryan Reynolds is on stage introducing the rest of the cast. Reynolds is excited for the R-Rated Deadpool. Tim Miller says at the rating was flip-flopping but the studios realized the world is ready for this. Reynolds says, "No matter what the rating is, babies will love this!" Bring your infants!

Reynolds says "I've only done one proper, full - wait, not proper... Super hero movie," and the crowd laughs at his Green Lantern mock. Baccarin calls her character a "bad-ass romantic lead," who "gives him lip and not only the words kind."

TJ Miller, at his first Comic Con, tells the audience "You're gonna f---ing love this movie," intentionally disregarding the previously mentioned under 18-year-old warning on their name cards. The jokes get dirtier between Miller and Hardwick and Miller concludes, "I play Weasel!"

Hildebrand says Negasonic Teenage Warhead is "Colossus's trainee." The whole panel has a perfect attitude for a movie like Deadpool. They laugh, they get a little raunchy, and Ryan Reynolds wants, "the f---ing chimichanggas." There has been this much swearing during a Hall H panel since Guillermo del Toro was here. Reynolds says that if some of his improv is used, "there are several organizations that will fine me." It's a laughing and F-bombs in Hall H.

Deadpool is "obviously going to break the fourth wall," per Reynolds. "The mouth is not at any point in our film sewn shut," Reynolds revealed. The merc has his mouth! "You have your guy who is doing his best to annoy the living s--- out of everyone around him."

Tim Miller says, "This is the best script is the best script I've ever read," before getting emotional and getting a consolation hug from Hardwick.

DEADPOOL FOOTAGE DESCRIPTION

"I love you Wade Wilson," says Vanessa. Wade sarcastically implies cancer he'll survive cancer. A sketchy scientist tells him "We can make you better," and claims he can make Wade a super hero Wade wants to do right by his girlfriend. He doesn't want a green super suit though! He calls the Doctor Posh Spice and calls the nurse a "less angry Rosie O'Donnell." Then he's sitting on top of a bridge and attacks the men in a truck he jumps into, straight out of the previously leaked footage but with a different song, not Gwen Stefani. He opens a window in a sideways truck and talks the men with guns pointing at him, saying, "This guy's got the right idea, he wore the brown pants!" He kills them all, then Colossus smacks him into a car. Negasonic introduces herself and Deadpool says, "What the sh--!" "F--- Liefeld" says Deadpool. Miller makes jokes about Reynolds f---ed up face and Wade claims to look "like a testicle with teeth." DMX plays the whole time. Deadpool twists off of a car and kills three guys with one bullet before sniffing the smoke from his guns and saying, "I'm touching myself tonight."

"ONE MORE TIME! ONE MORE TIME!" from the crowd and "F--- it, let's show it again," from Hardwick. The trailer plays again and now Hardwick wants to talk about X-Men and begins complimenting the 2000 film.

That concludes the Deadpool panel, on to X-Men.

The Rogue Cut of Days of Future Past will be released on Tuesday, July 14 per Chris Hardwick before he introduces a sizzle reel of X-Men movies, starting with cast auditions in 1999.

Hugh Jackman gets on stage and jokes about his aging since the audition shown and says, "I've got three words for you guys: Old man Logan."

Jackman brings Bryan Singer to the stage, who runs out gleefully. They discuss Jackman's audition and how quiet Singer was with his direction - at the time, Jackman didn't even have an agent. Singer told him, "Whether the film sucks or not, you'll be Wolverine for the rest of your life."

There's A LOT of empty chairs for this panel.

Hardwick brings out Evan Peters, Lucas Till, Cody Smith-McPhee, Ty Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Nicholas Hoult, James McAvoy who has ditched the hat from earlier and his sporting the bald head, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Oscar Isaac, Olivia Munn, Ben Hardy, Alexandra Shipp, and Simon Kinberg.

Hugh Jackman doesn't have a seat, so after attempting to sit on Lawrence's lap, he is going to exit the stage. Singer calls him back and points out that he has been in every single X-Men film, so far, alluding to an appearance in Apocalypse.

Kinberg begins to explain the film's setting and place amongst the rest of the X-Men films. X-Men: Apocalypse takes place 10 years after Days of Future Past. 1983 has accepted mutants… Mutants are for the most part accepted and embraced by society in some places, not every place."

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE FOOTAGE DESCRIPTION

Elements flash by as Jean Grey wakes up. She claims to have seen the end of the world. "I can feel all this death," she says but Professor X assures her it was just a dream. Apocalypse narrates, saying he's been called many things and giving a monologue consistent with a God-complex. He's persuading the mutants to follow him. Mystique and Quicksilver look upset. Magneto is cornered in a forest. Moira MacTaggert explains her tracking of Apocalypse. Characters flash by for their first appearances. Nightcrawler and Raven have a standoff. Magneto asks, "Who the f--- are you," after Apocalypse removes his hood. "Come and see," he says, showing his purplle face and silver helmet. Professor X says he can control all of us. Magneto forces him into Cerebro by pulling his chair with is powers. Cyclops can't control his powers. Chaos ensues. Quicksilver runs through a hallway and Beast raises a gun but he's not turned blue. Professor X's eyes go black and he says, "I've never felt power like this before. The title card graces the screen, then the doors to Cerebro open and Charles is sitting in his chair, bald.

Lawrence says she's more Raven than Mystique. Fassbender says we'll discover Magneto after "he hung up his cape" and was living a "normal life."

Isaac asks the crowd if Apocalypse looked cool and gets a decent response from the crowd. "This world that we have is not what it should have been," he explains. "In the comic books, he's got so many powers, so many strange things that have never been specified," Isaac says about his character, "But his most important power is persuasion." Apocalypse finds people who need and want something and acts on it to instill his plan.

Hardy says Angel is like every, angry, bitter feeling he's ever had in one person with "bad-ass wings." Shipp says Storm is lost and doesn't know what she's capable of when we find her. The cast agrees that it will be fun to watch the character become the characters "we know from the previous films."

Hardwick then bought every cast member out for a selfie with the most super heroes ever but coudn't find a camera, so Channing Tatum, who will play Gambit, emerged with a selfie-stick to take the picture which concluded Fox's panel.
