Gremlins Vinyl Soundtrack Transforms When Exposed To Light And Water

There are three rules of thumb regarding Mogwais, and you can pretty much break all of them with this new special edition Gremlins soundtrack from Mondo.

Mondo is releasing a special 2 LP Gremlins soundtrack featuring artwork from Phantom City Creative (via EW). The cover features a Gremlin messing with some Christmas lights, but as you know Mogwais and Gremlins are quite sensitive to light, and so is the cover. If you hold it up to the light, hidden messages are revealed. In this Gremlin's case, it's actually fire, a sun with a skull, and "Bright Light" scratched out with "No Bright Light" written on the side.

The second rule regarding the care of a Mogwai is to not get them wet, and Phantom City Creative wanted to implement this as well. The disc sleeves feature a solitary Mogwai and a laughing Gremlin, but if you take a damp cloth and run it over the sleeve, you'll reveal other characters and art. The Mogwai sleeve will reveal an evil Mogwai, and the Gremlin sleeve will reveal an assembly of other Gremlins.

The only thing Mondo and Phantom City Creative didn't fit in was the whole don't feed after midnight thing. You're welcome to try, but your family might be a bit worried if they walk in on you feeding your vinyl soundtrack a 3 Musketeers bar.

The soundtrack is slated to be ready in time for the holiday season, as it will go on sale November 30. You can take a look at the special edition covers in the gallery.

Hollywood loves remaking popular classics, and Gremlins certainly fits that bill. Unfortunately, previous efforts have stalled, with the last real update on a remake hitting in late 2015.
