Justice League Won't Be As Dark As Batman V Superman According To Screenwriter

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice writer Chris Terrio will return to pen the script for Justice League, but the Argo writer has revealed there will be a tonal shift between these two films.

Terrio envisions Batman v. Superman as the middle entry in a trilogy with Man of Steel and Justice League. As is common with film trilogies, that middle entry will be the darkest, and the third entry will lighten things back up again.

"Batman v Superman is a bit of an Empire Strikes Back or Two Towers or any similar middle film in a trilogy," Terrio tells the Wall Street Journal. "The middle film tends to be the darkest one. I do think from Man of Steel through Justice League, it is one saga really.

"I expect Justice League will be tonally not quite as dark as Batman v Superman. From that point of view, I felt compelled to go back and try to lift us and myself into a different tonal place because I think when you write a darker film, sometimes you want to redeem it all a bit."

Check out when Batman v. Superman, Justice League and other movies are coming out in ComicBook.com's Movie Release Schedule.
