The force is strong in some families…and not so much in others.
At least, that's what the latest Kung Fu Panda 3 teaser trailer would have us believe. Riffing off of another upcoming franchise installment—Star Wars: The Force Awakens—the trailer promises that a certain raspy-voiced Father will "rise." Naturally, the father we see isn't quite the one that we were expecting. You can see Kung Fu Panda (kinda) travel to the galaxy far, far, away in the video below.
When Po's long-lost panda father suddenly reappears, the reunited duo travels to a secret panda paradise to meet scores of hilarious new panda characters. But when the supernatural villain Kai begins to sweep across China defeating all the kung fu masters, Po must do the impossible—learn to train a village full of his fun-loving, clumsy brethren to become the ultimate band of Kung Fu Pandas!
Kung Fu Panda 3 hits theaters on January 29, 2016. And to see what other big films will kick off the new year, check out ComicBook.com's official franchise movie release schedule.
