Ryan Reynolds Announced That Deadpool Has Pulled Out Of Presidential Race
01/30/2016 08:15 am EST
Deadpool, a fictional character played by a Canadian, has exited the U.S. Presidential race.
That's according to Ryan Reynolds, the actor in question, who tweeted the following image:
For anybody who can't see the image or can't read it, here's the message in full, as printed on Deadpool-for-President letterhead:
As you know this morning I announced a possible run for El Presidente 2016. Like everything I do, I put in very little effort and yet still managed to be leading in all major polls & in Guam. But after very little consideration, it's with a heavy heart that I must pull out effective immediately.
I am aware that pulling out is a bit old-fashioned & doesn't guarantee that my politics haven't impregnated the minds of registered voters everywhere with my fresh ideas & cunning intellect. Some may choose to continue to support me as science has show this method of withdrawal only works 78% of the time. You're probably feeling like I robbed you of the intense pleasure of experiencing my presidency to its fullest. I can assure you — I would have made one hell of a chief. And to the other candidates — you're welcome. You just dodged a red-spandexed, katana-wielding, yellow-bubble-babbling ball of badass.
Yours surly,
DEADPOOL
Based upon Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Deadpool hits theaters on Feb. 12, 2016. You can check out every other upcoming Marvel movie on ComicBook.com's Comic Book Movie Release Schedule.
