Ryan Reynolds Kicks Off Deadpool Movie Oscar Campaign
02/23/2016 04:28 pm EST
Why would a little thing like being ineligible to compete stop Deadpool from trying to win something?
That's the question raised by Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, who has just tweeted a message encouraging a write-in campaign for the movie for the Academy Awards, which air on Sunday night at 5:30 p.m.
Of course, those would be the Oscars that celebrate 2015 movies. And Deadpool came out a little over a week ago, well into 2016.
Still...why not throw Mr. Pool a little love?
Based upon Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
