Lost and Fringe writer/executive producer Jeff Pinkner, who also co-wrote The Amazing Spider-Man 2, has been hired by Universal to pen their remake of the Creature from fhe Black Lagoon, according to The Tracking Board.
Reportedly, the lead role is still being offered up to Avengers: Age Of Ultron and Lucy star Scarlett Johansson.
The original Creature from the Black Lagoon was released in 1954, that was directed by Jack Arnold. It was about a group of scientists that are off in the Amazon exploring when they come upon a creature that is half-man, half-fish. Things get dicey when the creature, known as Gill-man, falls for the female scientist on the expedition.
