Disney Reportedly Impressed With Han Solo's Current Sizzle Reel

Ever since news broke that Lucasfilm parted ways with Han Solo spinoff directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord, the rumor mill has been churning nonstop with reasons for the potential split, including that they were fired for improvising too much.

But one key piece of hearsay stuck out among the rest — that Alden Ehrenreich, the actor cast to carry on the mantle of Han Solo from beloved Harrison Ford, had put in a poor performance and that Lucasfilm hired an acting coach to help him improve. But how accurate are those rumors?

It depends on who you ask, and according to this piece of information from Star Wars News Net, that might not be the case.

Apparently people at Disney were subjected to a screening of a sizzle reel of the Han Solo movie and the consensus is that they were mostly impressed by what they saw, including the performances of the film's principal actors.

Now, of course, all of this has to be taken with a grain of salt at this point — we'll never really know for sure until the film actually comes out or a tell-all book is released about the scandalous saga.

And both rumors could be true: that Disney investors were impressed AND Lucasfilm hired an acting coach for Ehrenreich. After all, sizzle reels consist of the best shots and takes, meant to entice and excite people to see more.

Ron Howard was brought in to take over the production of the Han Solo movie, so it's not like Lucasfilm is abandoning the project or even giving it a smaller spotlight. There is every intention that this movie will be just as big of a hit as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Hopefully we'll see more of it at the D23 Expo in a couple of weeks, where the Star Wars franchise will have a huge presence. Maybe we'll even get our first look at the film and — fingers crossed — learn what the movie is actually called.

Han Solo releases in theaters on May 25, 2018.
