Lucasfilm Reveals New Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Stormtrooper Look
04/06/2016 06:56 pm EDT
Inside the quick ten-second teaser for tomorrow's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer debut was an intriguing first look: a new class of Stormtrooper. The rank-and-file of the evil Empire, Stormtroopers have had several classes in the past, with unique armors for desert, cold weather, and flame retardant situations. Pilots had their own armor, as well.
Now, it seems we're seeing the debut of the rumored "Death Trooper," an elite special forces unit designed specifically for wet work - that's military code for operations where someone needs to die.
In the very brief shot, we see a total of three of these black-armor clad troopers, who have an additional piece of armor over their shoulders (or at least the one in the foreground does, usually used to denote rank in the Star Wars universe). A fire rages in the background of the shot.
We should find out much more about, or at least see more of, these new Stormtroopers in tomorrow's trailer debut. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first of the new standalone films from Lucasfilm/Disney, hits theaters December 16, 2016.
