New Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Trailer To Air During Olympics

A new trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will air this Thursday during NBC's coverage of the 2016 Rio Olympics.

You can catch a glimpse of the network's commercial teasing the trailer in the Twitter video below.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story takes place just prior to the events of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. The film follows a ragtag band of rebels on a high-stakes mission to steal the plans for the Death Star before it can be used by the Empire.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will feature characters who have appeared elsewhere in the Star Wars franchise. Most notable is Darth Vader, the franchise's most menacing and iconic villain, who will be voiced once again by James Earl Jones. Forrest Whitaker will play Saw Gerrera, who first appeared in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is the first standalone film in the Star Wars franchise. Rogue One is directed by Gareth Edwards, from a screenplay by Chris Weitz, based on a story by John Knoll and Gary Whitta. The film stars Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, Diego Luna as Cassian Andor, Riz Ahmed as Bodhi Rook, Ben Mendelsohn Orson Krennic, Donnie Yen Chirrut Imwe, Jiang Wen as Baze Malbus, Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera, Mads Mikkelsen as Galen Erso, Alan Tudyk as K-2SO and Jonathan Aris as Senato Jebel.
