Colin Trevorrow Finished Star Wars: Episode IX Script Draft

Reports had just started coming out that Star Wars: Episode IX would begin production in the UK this summer, and now we have word from the director of the film that seems to back up those rumors.

Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow is in line to take the baton from Rian Johnson after Star Wars: The Last Jedi. And though they're still putting the finishing touches on the eighth film in the Star Wars Saga, Trevorrow is still deep in pre-production on his film in the series.

Speaking with MTV at CinemaCon last week, the director revealed that a draft of the film is now complete.

"We're writing, and we're designing, and there is a draft," Trevorrow said. "You know, we're throwing 110 percent of our souls into it, so there will be nothing left of me when I'm done."

Trevorrow made the quiet-but-ambitious indie film Safety Not Guaranteed with Aubrey Plaza, a movie which was a darling of the Sundance Film Festival. He followed up that first film with Jurassic World, essentially cementing his status as a blockbuster director with just two movies.

Though it was a surprise that Trevorrow was given the nod to direct the final film in Disney's new trilogy of Star Wars movies, he's not treating the honor lightly. When asked how he's approaching the film in the overall saga, Trevorrow gave a daunting answer.

"I think about it in the context of three films, six films, nine films, and one film," Trevorrow replied. "It's a lot."

Jurassic World 2 is currently in production with director JA Bayona. Production of Star Wars: Episode IX is rumored to begin in July, with a release date in 2019.

Trevorrow's next film is the Book of Henry, about a family who conspires to murder a police chief they believe is abusing his stepdaughter. That film hits theaters June 16.
