Star Wars' Harrison Ford Involved In California Plane Incident

When it comes to Star Wars, there is no better pilot then Han Solo. The space renegade is known for his crafty flying skills, and Solo's uncontested love for lightspeed made him a valuable ally to the Rebellion. In real life, Harrison Ford mirrors his iconic on-screen character as the actor received a pilot's license years ago. But, , the actor's flight log experienced a terrifying blip when Ford neared the John Wayne Airport in California.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, Ford was involved in what they call a "potentially serious" incident while flying his private plane on Monday. The actor was said to have attempted a landing at the Orange County airport and made a mistake which brought him too close to a passenger plane. The larger craft was filled with travelers, and the FAA has since released the following statement about the event:

"Air traffic controllers cleared the pilot of a single-engine Aviat Husky to land on Runway 20L at John Wayne Airport Monday afternoon. The pilot correctly read back the clearance. The pilot then landed on a taxiway that runs parallel to the runway, overflying a Boeing 737 that was holding short of the runway. The FAA is investigating this incident."

Allegedly, Ford asked the traffic control personnel at the airport whether or not the airliner was meant to be underneath his plane. It was then that the staff informed the actor he was landing on taxiway rather than a runway.

Of course, fans will be relieved to hear that no one was hurt in the incident. Back in March 2015, the Star Wars actor experienced a serious accident while flying a World War II-era craft in Santa Monica. The plane's engine failed and crashed, leaving Ford with a broken arm and head injures that have since healed.
