Fan Makes Impressively Catchy Tune Using Nothing But 'Star Wars' Sound Effect

Whether it be through costumes, art pieces, or tattoos, Star Wars fans have proven to be some of the most devoted on the planet, paying their respects to the saga in a plethora of ways. Musician and devout Star Wars fan Eclectic Method recently composed an entire song using nothing but sounds effects found in the eight films, which you can enjoy below.

This tune is only the latest in a long series of songs the musician has created that pay their respects to Star Wars and show off the diversity of the films' soundscapes. You can check out more of his Star Wars remixes at his website.

In addition to the song's creation being impressive, it also highlights the wide variety of sound effects created for the film, as well as how iconic each of those elements has become.

Prior to Star Wars, most sci-fi films used stock "futuristic" sounds for their effects, but when sound designer Ben Burtt joined the film, he aimed to create a much more organic sound, relying far more on "found sounds." For example, the sound of a lightsaber was derived from the sound of a film projector combined with crackling from a TV set, while the iconic sound of blasters firing came from tapping a metallic guy-wire with a hammer.

Burtt also helped create the iconic sounds for Chewbacca, which he did by combining sounds from walruses, lions, camels, bears, rabbits, tigers, and badgers. For the droid R2-D2, Burtt recited "baby talk" to convey lines of dialog for the droid, which he'd then record and translate into electronic beeps and boops to convey the message.

If the sound effects themselves weren't iconic enough, the saga's score is just as memorable, thanks to the creative genius of John Williams. Whether it's the opening theme, Darth Vader's Imperial March, or one of the tunes heard in the Mos Eisley Cantina, played by Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes, it's hard not to hum any number of iconic tunes after hearing the opening notes.

You'll next be able to hear some new Star Wars tunes when The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15.
