Lucasfilm Boss Reveals When Next Star Wars Spinoff Could Be Announced

Star Wars Celebration in Orlando was packed with tons of awesome reveals, new information, and exclusive items that left everyone at home with a serious case of FOMO.

But while there were quite a few awesome announcements made at the event, some people were left wanting by the lack of information about the currently in-production Han Solo film. And some were even expecting new details regarding the NEXT Star Wars anthology film.

However Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy didn't unveil the official Han Solo spinoff title or logo, nor did she reveal what would be the focus of 2020's anthology movie.

With a huge focus on the 40th anniversary and Star Wars: The Last Jedi, there wasn't a lot of room for announcements of future plans—and Lucasfilm will definitely want to spread some of the exciting events throughout the year.

But Kennedy revealed that plans were in the works and we could get some new details about the next Star Wars Story in the coming months.

"I think we're getting close," Kennedy said to MTV. "My hope would be sometime around the summer."

The next big Star Wars event is D23, and with more details promised regarding Disney's highly anticipated Star Wars expansion at their theme parks, we might get another surprise regarding the films as well.

But Kennedy was quick to clarify that she's not making any promises.

"I never want to predict the creative process because it is its own thing, so we're in the midst of those discussions right now."

It sounds promising that we'll learn of the next Star Wars Story movie after Han Solo in the near future, with D23 and San Diego Comic-Con coming up in July.

Hopefully we get a clear picture of who's involved and what they're working on, and not something generic like "Untitled Bounty Hunter Project."

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is the next Lucasfilm movie on the calendar, set to release December 15.
