Fear The Walking Dead Star Reveals One Disappointment In Exciting Return

Spoilers for the most recent episode of Fear the Walking Dead follow.

Fear the Walking Dead pulled a stunt similar to Glenn's dumpster dive on The Walking Dead in its most recent episode, though this time around the Dead universe doesn't appear to be receiving such backlash for the move.

In Season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead, Daniel Salazar appeared to have burned himself alive when he took down the Abigail Estate. It was a little more ambiguous than the blatant tease of Glenn's death by zombie mob on The Walking Dead which is likely why fans excited to see Ruben Blades back on the sibling series are more forgiving.

For Blades, returning to the AMC series is a very exciting moment for him for several reasons, however, one thing makes the surprising re-entry to the universe bitter sweet.

"I am very, very, very happy cause I missed them very much," Blades said.

"I'm so sorry that I can't see Cliff Curtis every day," Blades said. "He's a really great guy. Super actor, but also very nice man. A friend, really nice guy."

Blades is referring to the shocking departure of Travis Manawa actor Cliff Curtis who departed Fear the Walking Dead when his character was unexpectedly killed by a stray bullet in the Season 3 premiere. However, with the departure of the series regular comes a slew of new and returning cast members Blades is excited to continue working with.

"I'm glad to be with all the others, with Colman [Domingo] and Mercedes [Mason] and Kim [Dickens] and others, and the new people that are coming in, and meeting [Jeremiah] Otto [actor Dayton Callie] for me was such thrill, because I am a big fan of his. And I found out that he plays saxophone, so he's also a musician. He was playing around New Jersey at the time that I was playing around New York. Also, Michael [Freeman]..."

"I really like everybody that is working with us right now. I'm just glad also because of the fans. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for the support. I think the fans are one of the main reasons why Salazar is still around, so I wanted to thank them also. But I'm super happy to be here, working with all these wonderful people in AMC."

Blades will be at the forefront of Sunday night's new episode of Fear the Walking Dead as Strand's journey to Dante's dam where he reunited with Victor Strand will be revealed. As it turns out, not even Blades knew he would be coming back when his character appeared to have gone down in a fire.

"I was told that there was an opportunity of coming back and that Salazar could be back and he wasn't necessarily dead," Blades said. "I found out I was coming back when my agent said, 'Okay, you're going back.'"
