Alien: Covenant To Be Scored By Jed Kurzel

As we know the score of a film sets the tone and emotion behind and sometimes in front of the visuals, especially for a horror film set in outer space. Scoring the soundtrack for the epic Alien saga is no small task.

While the recent trailer for Alien: Covenant chilled us to the core, it also revealed that Jed Kurzel has taken over composing the score.

Originally Harry Gregson-Williams was tied to the project as head composer, however the eerie sounds and melodies that accompany the visual action and terror in the first trailer are from Kurzel.

Kurzel is best known for scoring films like The Babadook, Slow West, Snow Town and most recently Assassins Creed. He also has a few Australian screen music awards under his belt.

Director Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.

The cast features Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, and Benjamin Rigby.
