Arrow: R.I.P. The Series' Longest-Running Scourge

Warning: Spoilers ahead for tonight's episode of Arrow.

Tonight's episode of Arrow saw the end of the show's longest-running scourge:

Oliver Queen's flashback wig.

Since the first season, we've been getting increasingly bad long, greasy, dirty wigs on Oliver in the flashbacks. It's become a running joke on the part of producers and the cast. And then tonight, series star Stephen Amell tweeted this...

It didn't take fans long to figure out "who" was going to go, given some images that have been released for future episodes, including the one above, which shows Oliver dressed in fatigues and sporting short hair.

In the flashbacks tonight, of course, Oliver joined up with a team of nasty gunmen who seem to have some kind of drug operation going on on Lian Yu. They all wore fatigues like that, suggesting that the shot comes from a flashback sequence and not the main story.

By the end of tonight's episode, that was confirmed.

Farewell, sweet flashback hair. We knew you well.
