Doctor Who 2016 Christmas Special Trailer Released

If you've been waiting for updates on this year's Doctor Who Christmas special, then you are in luck. The BBC has been generous with ample episode clips, but the network has finally given fans what they've really wanted. A trailer for the thrilling special has hit the Internet, and it gives fan a new look at the mysterious superhero 'The Ghost' who will debut in the special.

The superhero, who appears to be a take on other famous characters like Superman, can be seen taking to the sky in the new trailer. The Ghost is played by Justin Chatwin, and he seems to have a thing for Charity Wakefield's character. And, in true superhero fashion, the latter love interest is a bonafide journalist look to bust criminals and report on New York City's mysterious hero.
Not much is known about the episode, but it looks like The Doctor will be working with The Ghost and his admirer to bust a syndicate shacking up in New York. The organization claims it will open people's minds, but the Doctor reveals their tech is anything but terrestrial.

Peter Capaldi stars as the Doctor, Matt Lucas (Bridesmaids, Little Britain) as Nardole, Justin Chatwin (Orphan Black, Shameless) as Grant and Charity Wakefield (Wolf Hall, The Player) as an investigative journalist.

Not long ago, the BBC gave fans their first look at the episode with a special clip. The footage shows a hero known as "The Ghost" take on some baddies. The airborne superhero was seen casually knocking on a skyscraper window before busting inside and saving the Doctor from an unsavory figure.
The 2016 Doctor Who Chrismas Special will air on BBC on December 25th.
